Flush-Mounted Sony OLED TV Installation in Highgate

How a flush-mounted Sony OLED television was coordinated with joinery, Savant control, Lutron lighting and the wider home network.

The Sony OLED display installed close to the finished kitchen wall.

A television sitting close to the finished wall keeps the interior beautifully clear. This Highgate installation brought together Sony OLED displays, Savant control, Lutron HomeWorks lighting, video distribution and networking, with the equipment detail coordinated behind the scenes.

The project record lists a 77-inch Sony OLED in the lounge, a 65-inch display in the principal bedroom and a 55-inch display in the kitchen. The kitchen installation was designed to sit closely against the finished surface while retaining the connections and support needed behind it.

What makes a flush television installation work

We coordinate the screen, bracket, wall construction and cable entry as one detail. Positioning the sockets and connections within the planned recess helps achieve the slim, considered finish the room deserves.

  • Confirm the exact television and bracket before forming the recess or backing.
  • Coordinate power, data and signal connections so plugs do not foul the screen.
  • Provide suitable structure for the combined weight and bracket loads.
  • Allow a safe method of removing the display for service.
  • Check ventilation and the manufacturer's installation clearances.
  • Agree the finished screen height from the real seating and working positions.

Joinery, building and AV responsibilities

The clean result depended on the builder, project team and AV engineers agreeing the detail before final finishes. The wall or joinery contractor provides the correct opening and support; the electrical work provides suitable power and containment; the AV team confirms the bracket, connection space and signal path. A dimension missed by one party affects the work of all three.

The wider system behind the screen

The televisions formed part of a larger installation rather than operating as isolated displays. The recorded scope included Savant whole-home control and intercom integration, Savant IP audio, a WyreStorm HDBaseT video matrix, Lutron HomeWorks QS lighting, managed power and a Ubiquiti network.

Central distribution keeps source equipment away from the screen. We coordinate cable routes, bandwidth, control and service access, then test each source at the intended format. The homeowner gets a straightforward route to everyday viewing.

Lighting around a television

We tune lighting scenes around the installed screen and furniture, reducing reflections and keeping a comfortable route through the room. General use, television, entertaining and off are often all the settings the space needs.

What to plan for a similar installation

Provide the proposed screen model, wall construction, furniture layout, viewing distance, source equipment and room photographs. If the television is part of a wider control or distribution system, include the rack location and network plan. London Electricals can then coordinate the physical detail with the technology rather than treating the display as a late wall-mounted accessory.
