Savant System Costs: What a Proposal Should Include

Understand Savant cost drivers and plan a complete system around your rooms, priorities and budget.

A Savant budget is shaped around the rooms and experiences you want: music in the kitchen, a cinema for the evening and simple control of lighting and climate. We bring those priorities into a complete proposal, with the equipment and installation planned together.

This guide explains the main cost drivers and what a complete Savant proposal includes, helping you prepare a useful brief and compare your options.

The main Savant cost drivers

Rooms and functions: the number of audio zones, displays, sources and control points.
System host and controllers: the platform required for the agreed scale and functions.
Audio and video: speakers, amplification, displays, distribution and source equipment.
Interfaces: lighting, shading, climate, door entry and other supported systems.
Infrastructure: cabling, network, rack, power, ventilation and builders' work.
Programming: user interfaces, scenes, schedules, testing and changes after review.
Support: remote access, maintenance arrangements, licences and subscriptions where applicable.

What an installed proposal should show

Why hardware is only part of the price

A list of boxes does not describe the work needed to make them operate as one system. Design time is used to coordinate the network, rack, power, ventilation, interfaces and room controls. Installation time covers cable preparation, mounting, termination and labelling. Commissioning proves the signal paths and programmes the experience. Handover leaves the homeowner with understandable controls and support information.

A coordinated proposal lets you see the complete investment and choose the features that matter most. We can identify optional additions and plan the infrastructure for later phases.

New build, refurbishment or existing-system takeover

A new build gives us the opportunity to plan cable routes, equipment space and containment before first fix. In a refurbishment, we survey what is there and identify useful infrastructure to retain. For an inherited Savant system, our takeover service brings access, software, networking and equipment condition into one clear plan for ongoing care and improvements.

How to compare two quotations

Compare the room outcomes and exclusions, not only the total. Check whether both quotations include VAT on the same basis, the same number of rooms, equivalent speaker and display specifications, the same lighting or heating interfaces, a suitable network, rack cooling, programming, training and aftercare.

If one proposal contains an allowance, ask what happens when it is exceeded. If a product is described as “or equivalent”, ask who decides the equivalent and against which performance requirement.
