Lutron Athena: Lighting Control, Energy Review and Handover

Plan a commercial lighting-control installation with clear operating requirements, measured outcomes and responsibilities for compliance and support.

Define the operating requirements first

A commercial lighting-control brief should explain how the space operates throughout the day, who can change settings and how future layout changes will be handled. Select the equipment against those requirements.

Measure outcomes against a real baseline

Potential energy savings depend on the existing installation, occupied hours, lighting loads and commissioned settings. Record a meaningful baseline and compare equivalent periods after the work. Avoid a fixed savings percentage without project evidence.

Commission and hand over the operation

  • Check local controls and scheduled behaviour against the agreed brief.
  • Record the settings and equipment included.
  • Train the people responsible for operating the space.
  • Agree access, support and the process for later changes.

Keep regulatory responsibility clear

A product choice does not demonstrate compliance on its own. The project team must assess the applicable requirements and retain the relevant design and verification evidence.
