Woodrow Mansion: Lutron Lighting, KNX & Savant

A new chapter for the lighting

At Woodrow, the aim was to bring Lutron lighting into a home already built around KNX. The lighting moved to HomeWorks QS, KNX continued to run the heating and mechanical systems, and Savant brought the controls together. It was a substantial home with plenty to coordinate, from the lighting and climate to cinema, music and an outdoor television.

Working with the existing KNX installation

The existing KNX wiring was a central part of the job. The team separated the lighting from the wider system and introduced Lutron HomeWorks QS while keeping the heating and mechanical controls in place. That meant understanding how the systems worked together and making the change across the home as a coordinated installation.

Lighting that belongs to the home

HomeWorks QS and Orluna fittings formed the lighting scheme. Keypads, scenes and Savant controls were programmed around everyday routines, bringing the new lighting into the way the household used each room. The retained KNX heating and mechanical controls remained clearly presented alongside it.

The wider installation

A property-wide Ruckus network with wired access points supported the connected systems. The scope also included cinema audio, displays and the specialist structure and lift for the outdoor television. The team installed and commissioned these elements together, with the lighting upgrade forming part of the complete home.

Bringing it all together

The finished system combines Lutron lighting with the retained KNX services and Savant control. Woodrow shows the value of understanding the whole home: the new lighting and the systems already in place each have a clear part to play.
