A London town-house room bringing projection, surround audio, lighting and control into one straightforward experience.

The brief

Create a convincing home-cinema experience while maintaining a controlled budget and preserving the visual character of the town-house interior.

The challenge

Projection geometry, a hidden screen, loudspeaker placement, surround processing, lighting scenes, simple control and reliable connectivity all had to be resolved within one room.

Design approach

We paired Epson laser projection with an acoustically transparent retractable screen and Artcoustic loudspeakers in a 9.2 Dolby Atmos arrangement. Savant controls the room, with Lutron and Orluna providing warm, cinematic lighting.

Electrical and infrastructure

The system required coordinated power, signal and speaker cabling, projector and screen positions, equipment ventilation and access, lighting circuits and a reliable network path.

Installation

We installed the projection, concealed screen, Artcoustic audio, Savant control, Lutron lighting, Orluna fittings and Ruckus network as one integrated cinema system.

Programming and commissioning

Savant provides one-remote operation, bringing cinema, sound and lighting together in a simple sequence from start-up to shutdown.

The result

The result is a dedicated cinema where picture, sound, lighting and control feel like one designed experience, while the major screen hardware remains concealed.
