Lutron HomeWorks and Sivoia QS: A Guide for Interior Designers

Bring HomeWorks lighting and Sivoia QS shading into your interior design, with coordinated keypads, finishes, joinery and room scenes.

Lutron HomeWorks and Sivoia QS let lighting and window treatments become part of one considered interior. We help designers bring scenes, keypad finishes and fabrics together with the ceiling, joinery and electrical details, so the finished rooms feel as good to use as they look.

Begin with the room, not the product

Describe the conditions the client wants for everyday living, entertaining, television, bedtime and time away from home. For each window, decide whether the priority is privacy, glare control, solar control, room darkening or simply a softer interior. Those requirements guide the specification; the control-system name does not settle them on its own.

Lighting, shading and the interior work best when the visible details and the hidden provisions are designed together.

Coordinate visible controls with the finishes

We review keypad positions, button layouts, engraving and finishes alongside the door furniture, stone and joinery. Physical samples help you see how the finishes work in the room’s own light and make the final choice with confidence.

Scene names should describe what the client expects: Welcome, Entertain, Read, Relax or Goodnight are clearer than a technical list of circuits. The programming team can then translate each scene into the agreed lighting and shading behaviour.

Resolve the lighting interfaces early

We coordinate the lighting schedule, drivers, dimming methods and circuit groups before ordering the controls. Matching the fittings and control equipment at this stage gives us a clear route to the smooth dimming and scene levels the design calls for.

Measure and detail every shade properly

  • Window information: opening dimensions, mounting surface, handles, vents and other obstructions.
  • Fabric intent: samples, privacy, view-through, glare control, room darkening and the expected light gaps.
  • Concealment: pocket, fascia, pelmet or exposed roller, with removable access for service.
  • Power and control: the requirements of the exact drive, cable route and power-supply location.
  • Coordination: final measurement, fabrication lead time, installation sequence and protection of finished work.

Lutron’s Sivoia QS information supports the selection of mounting, drive, fabric and power arrangements. We turn those product choices into a measured specification coordinated with your window details.

A first-fix checklist for the design team

Before first fixBefore manufacture or final order
Keypad and control locations agreedFinishes, engraving and button layouts approved
Lighting drivers and interfaces scheduledLighting loads and control equipment confirmed
Shade pockets, access and power routes coordinatedFinal site dimensions and fabric samples approved
Responsibilities shown on drawingsInstallation, programming and handover dates agreed

Keep responsibilities unambiguous

Record who owns final measurement, fabric approval, joinery, electrical work, shade installation, lighting commissioning, scene programming and client training. If another system is expected to control HomeWorks or the shades, document the permitted commands, the interface owner and the failure behaviour.

See the ideas in completed homes

Woodrow Mansion shows lighting-control replacement within a wider home system. Alwyne Place brings lighting, heating, control and networking into a new-build residence. Both provide useful ideas for the design-team conversation.
