Start with what you want to light

An artwork needs a different approach from a kitchen worktop. A narrow beam can give an object definition, while a broader wash can make a wall feel soft and welcoming. We plan the positions and aiming with the furniture and room layout so the light lands where it is useful.

Recessed, adjustable and decorative elements can be combined into a layered scheme. The ceiling remains considered, and the lighting supports what is happening below it.

Why colour rendering matters

Colour rendering describes how a light source reveals the colours of the objects it illuminates. It is different from colour temperature, which describes whether the white light looks warm or cool. Both influence how fabrics, timber, stone and skin tones appear.

We review the specifications for the selected Orluna light engine and compare samples with the interior palette. That gives you a useful way to choose, especially for artwork and richly coloured materials.

Bring the fittings and dimming together

A relaxed evening scene often uses much lower light levels than cooking or cleaning. We pair the selected drivers and fittings with the control system, then commission the dimming in the finished rooms. Lutron scenes can bring downlights, pendants and decorative light into a balanced setting with a single button.
