Invisible speakers for architects

Sonance Invisible Series brings music into beautifully finished rooms. We coordinate speaker positions, construction and tuning with your architect and interior designer.

Good sound can be part of a room without becoming part of its appearance. Sonance Invisible Series speakers sit behind the finished wall or ceiling surface, leaving the architecture, artwork and joinery to take centre stage.

For architects and interior designers, that opens up useful possibilities: music in a calm bedroom, even coverage across an open-plan kitchen, or a welcoming soundtrack through the entrance hall. We design the audio around the way each space will be used.

How Sonance invisible speakers work

Sonance’s Motion Flex technology combines a Wave Flex Drive Unit for the mid and high frequencies with an Air Flex Woofer for bass. The speaker panel transfers sound through the specified finish, while its wide dispersion helps spread music across the listening area.

This is different from a conventional ceiling speaker with a visible grille. The panel becomes part of the wall or ceiling, so its position, construction and finishing details belong in the drawings from the outset.

Designing the sound around the room

We work out the speaker layout, listening levels and amplification together. A kitchen used for relaxed background music needs a different approach from a large entertaining space. Where the brief calls for more low-frequency weight, we can bring discreet bass reinforcement into the design too.

The number of speakers is only one part of a comfortable listening experience. Room shape, furniture and the way adjoining areas connect all inform the layout. We coordinate those decisions with the design team so the audio works with the interior.

From first fix to the finished surface

Our installation planning covers cable routes, speaker locations and the construction detail around each panel. Sonance’s DISC depth-checking system helps the installation team check the finish over the speaker. We coordinate that work with the plasterer and decorator, then commission and tune the completed system.

The result is straightforward for the homeowner: choose the room, choose the music and enjoy it. We can connect the audio to a wider home-control system or a familiar music platform, with the controls that suit the home.
