Lutron Alisse Keypads for Super-Prime Residential Interiors

A considered detail in a carefully designed home

Lutron Alisse brings lighting and shading control into the interior scheme through a distinctive metal faceplate and circular buttons. For a super-prime residence, the attraction is as much about how the home feels to use as how the keypad looks on the wall. A well-planned button can recall a welcoming room scene without asking guests to understand a bank of separate switches.

What makes an Alisse keypad different?

Alisse combines tactile buttons, subtle illuminated rings and a choice of finishes and engraving. It belongs within a compatible Lutron control system: it is not a standalone replacement for an ordinary mains light switch. For the HomeWorks wired Alisse covered by Lutron specification 3691154f, the answer is HomeWorks QSX processors, connected through the wired QS link. QS is the link name here; it does not identify the supported processor generation. An existing HomeWorks QS installation must not be assumed compatible simply because the keypad uses QS-link wiring.

Choose finishes alongside the interior materials

Review a physical sample beside the door furniture, joinery, stone and wall finish. Screen images are useful for an initial shortlist, but cannot settle colour, texture or how a metal finish catches the light. Consider the same finish under daytime and evening lighting before signing off the schedule.

Consistency matters across a home, but different rooms can have different requirements. The entrance, principal suite and informal family room need a shared design language without necessarily having identical button layouts.

Plan the buttons around the way you live

These are proposed scene names, not a promise that a particular button arrangement or engraving is order-ready. Confirm the available configuration, permitted engraving and programmed behaviour with the project team. Any connection to AV, heating or other systems needs a separately agreed interface.

Resolve installation details before the walls are finished

Agree keypad locations, mounting height, backbox requirements, low-voltage wiring and neighbouring controls before first fix. Check alignment with panelling and joinery elevations. On an existing property, establish the current processor, wiring condition and available project files before promising a simple faceplate swap.

What should an Alisse proposal include?

A useful proposal identifies each room and keypad location, the finish and button arrangement, engraving, required system hardware, installation, programming and handover. Ask what is included in the price and how later scene adjustments are handled. The total depends on the project scope; a keypad-only price cannot describe a complete installed system.

Configurations and mounting

The cited specification shows one, two and three columns, with defined button arrangements. Finish examples include Aged Brass, Satin Nickel and Graphite. Final configurations and engraving are selected in Lutron myProjects; a colour on a screen is not a finish approval.

Choose the base and adapter for the backbox shape and column count. For example, HW-QS-B-S1 is the square-backbox base for single- and two-column arrangements. Round-box installations have separate requirements. Use the dimensions and mounting instructions in the wired Alisse specification, pages 5–14, and application note 791 before first fix.
