Preserve what makes a bespoke system useful.
A custom Crestron installation may include room interfaces and sequences designed specifically for the property. The priority is to understand those functions before changing them. A working cinema sequence, a lighting interface or a specialist climate connection can depend on programming that is not obvious from the touchscreen.
Where the editable files and appropriate access are available, the assessment can focus on maintainability, known faults and the improvements you want. Where documentation is incomplete, we first identify what can be established safely. If redevelopment is necessary, it needs its own scope, milestones and acceptance checks; it is not hidden inside a maintenance promise.
The household should receive a clear explanation of which functions are being retained, which are being changed and where another specialist is involved. For a larger upgrade, we agree affected rooms and change windows so the proposal reflects an occupied home. A move to a different platform is considered against the required functions, not assumed to be a direct replacement.

Map the dependencies
Trace lighting, heating, AV distribution, networks and specialist interfaces. Record how custom logic connects them and the consequences of changing one part of the installation.
Separate support from redevelopment
Agree what can be maintained with the available files and access. Where source is missing or hardware is obsolete, scope recovery or redevelopment separately with milestones and acceptance checks.
A takeover built around your installation
A takeover should preserve the routines the household relies on. The assessment records room functions, interfaces and known limitations before an engineer changes the programme. A move to Crestron Home is an option to evaluate, not an automatic or like-for-like replacement for bespoke functionality.
The first visit and what follows
We agree an engineer assessment before taking responsibility for ongoing care. The outcome is a practical system record and a prioritised proposal: retain, stabilise, recover and improve. Available configuration is protected before changes, and work affecting occupied rooms is planned with you.

What should we ask the previous installer to hand over?
Available source projects, touchscreen files, custom modules, equipment schedules, network information and relevant licensing or ownership records are useful. We review what is actually provided and request authorised access through an appropriate channel; do not put passwords in the website form.
Can you recover a custom Crestron system without its original programmer?
We can investigate the installed system and available handover material. Recovery depends on the processor, files, access and rights to the programming. We cannot promise to reconstruct missing source code from a working processor; any redevelopment is assessed and quoted separately.
Can I request an SLA before you visit?
Yes. Tell us the care approach you prefer. We then assess the installation and propose the scope, monitoring options, response arrangements and price. An enquiry does not activate support or book an engineer automatically.
