This project announcement records the design brief for a 550-square-metre home in Radlett, Hertfordshire. The proposal brought lighting, entertainment, networking and environmental control into one coordinated scheme across three floors.
The work began with technology consultancy and a RIBA Stage 4 design, followed by the tender appointment. Getting those decisions onto the drawings early gave the team a clear basis for the installation ahead.
Lutron lighting, with Orluna at the heart of the scheme
The lighting brief paired Lutron HomeWorks QS control with Orluna Fade fittings and ORI LED tape in a warm 2700K colour temperature. The aim was to make the lighting easy to live with: useful light for everyday activities, softer settings for the evening and coordinated control throughout the home.
Bringing the fittings and controls into the same design conversation lets us plan the effect of the light as well as the equipment that runs it. Keypad locations, circuits and scenes can then work together with the room layouts.

Savant entertainment and home control
The proposed entertainment system used Savant Video over IP and Savant Pro Audio to distribute television and music around the house. Savant and North Commander were specified for integration with the HVAC and building-management systems, bringing the relevant controls into the homeowner’s wider system.
That coordination matters in a project of this size. The room controls, equipment spaces and cabling need to support the same plan, so the finished experience feels simple.
A Ruckus network across three floors
The network brief called for Ruckus equipment to serve the property. Coverage, wired connections and the demands of the entertainment system were considered together, giving the home’s connected services a common foundation.
