01 · Scope & delivery

The installation becomes useful through commissioning.

Equipment needs to be checked together against the intended operation. We agree the commissioning tasks with the project team, then demonstrate the relevant scenes, sensors, user controls and interfaces. Settings are refined around the finished rooms and the way the premises will be used.

The approach distinguishes installation checks, configuration and functional tests. A lighting scene, a controls request and an equipment response each need to be understood within the agreed sequence. Recorded results help the team review completion and give later support work an informed starting point.

02 · Scope & delivery

Give the operator the information they will use.

A useful handover explains the normal controls, schedules, local adjustments and route for support. We introduce the installation to the people managing it and provide the relevant records agreed in the project scope.

Those records may include drawings, equipment information, configuration backups, points or interface schedules and commissioning results. Secure access and the arrangements for maintaining programming files are established with the appropriate operator and system owner.

  • Introduction to everyday controls and schedules
  • Relevant equipment and installation records
  • Agreed configuration and backup information
  • Functional commissioning results
  • A clear route for support and future changes

03 · Scope & delivery

An existing-system review with a practical purpose.

A system review begins with what is installed and what the operator wants to improve. Recurring faults, awkward controls, changed room use and incomplete records can all inform the brief. We inspect the available equipment and information, then identify the next steps and any specialist input.

The review provides a basis for fault diagnosis, a controls adjustment, an upgrade or a wider takeover proposal. We discuss access and working arrangements with the building team and define the scope before the work proceeds.

04 · Scope & delivery

Find the issue across the connected systems.

A lighting or room-technology problem may involve equipment, programming, cabling, connectivity or an interface to another system. We work through the agreed investigation and identify the part of the installation responsible for the behaviour.

Understanding the original sequence and having useful records makes that process clearer. Where another specialist owns part of the system, we coordinate the relevant checks and responsibilities with the operator. The proposed remedy follows the evidence gathered during the review.

05 · Scope & delivery

Care shaped around your premises and systems.

Maintenance planning considers the installed lighting, controls, AV and networks, their use and the access available. We discuss the operator’s priorities and develop an appropriate proposal for inspections, adjustments, fault support and future changes.

Coverage, attendance arrangements, remote-access requirements and response terms are agreed within that proposal. The service is shaped around the installation and the support your team needs, with clear responsibilities for specialist equipment and other contractors.

Our published Welbeck House case includes a maintenance contract following the lighting and building-integration refurbishment. It demonstrates the relationship between installation, handover and later support.

06 · Scope & delivery

Keep the settings in step with the building.

Occupancy patterns and room uses can change after a fit-out. A review can refine lighting scenes, schedules and everyday controls within the agreed system capabilities. Seasonal controls adjustments are coordinated with the mechanical and building-management responsibilities.

We record the agreed changes and explain them to the operator. That preserves an understood configuration and makes the next review easier to plan. Future equipment additions can then be discussed alongside the existing installation and available records.

07 · Scope & delivery

One coordinated scope. Clear interfaces.

A fit-out brings together the landlord’s requirements, the tenant’s brief, the design team and the contractors delivering each package. The connections between those packages deserve the same attention as the equipment. We help define power, cabling, control interfaces and commissioning responsibilities while there is still time to make considered decisions.

For quantity surveyors, consultants and main contractors, an organised scope makes proposals easier to compare. We identify the work included, the specialist interfaces and the information needed to price the next stage. Changes can then be discussed against an understood starting point, with the programme and handover kept in view.

Planning your project

Useful answers before we begin.

Can you take over a system installed by another contractor?

We begin with a review of the installed equipment, available records, access and operating issues. That establishes the scope of investigation, any specialist inputs and a suitable support or upgrade proposal.

Can you help when programming files are missing?

We review the equipment and available information to establish the practical route. The proposal identifies any additional records, system access or specialist recovery work needed to support the installation.

What does a maintenance arrangement cover?

The proposal sets out the systems, inspection or support tasks, access arrangements and response terms agreed for your premises. Coverage follows the installation and the operator’s requirements.

Can we arrange commissioning for an unfinished project?

We review the installation status, scope, records and intended operation with the team, then define the remaining checks, settings and demonstrations. Responsibilities for specialist equipment and interfaces are agreed before the work.
